By January 08, 2020 at 02:57 PM EST Liam Neeson takes a step back from hardcore action to get to the gooey center of Lesley Manville ‘s heart in the first trailer for their upcoming romantic drama Ordinary Love. The duo leads the film as a married couple with a remarkable love story that threatens to end when Joan (Manville) receives a dire breast cancer diagnosis, sending the world of Tom (Neeson) into quiet chaos as he tries to hold himself together to support his wife. “I can’t tell her how frightened I am. I’ve got to continue on as normal. That’s my job in all of this, ” Neeson says in the clip, which sees him rallying his own emotions to give his spouse a comfortable transition into treatment. “There isn’t a moment I won’t be there with you, ” he later tells her. “I’m going to torture you. You know that, don’t you? ” Directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn from a script written by playwright Owen McCafferty, the film world-premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it earned universal praise from movie critics. Not a song that I love more than this one—Im not like all the other highschool kids and their inaudible music e.g. mumble rap. I grew up listening to this song thanks to my granddad. Not a day goes by without me listening to this song at least once. It's always blasting at my granddads so it's incredibly hard to get away from; not that Im complaining of course. It's by no means a perfect film but it is a really enjoyable film with emotion done well without feeling too over the top especially for a cancer film.
Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville are really great here. They really do carry this film. Since it is primarily focused on these two characters and pretty much no one else. Liam Neeson is really great here and it makes me wonder why he hasn't done more action films.
Overall it's a very simple told very effectively. It does have a lot emotion and it really does work especially the ending. But it's definitely worth watching.

The relationship described is convincing and the emotions as the cancer theme develops, raw and realistic. The two leads are excellent, but this is a Lesley Manville's film, I would say.
